We all want to become extremely productive but the problem with most of the people is that they don’t know the meaning of productivity. If you are working for 10 hours and you did x amount of work, then the next day you worked for 18 hours and did x+x/2 work, then the next day you worked for 5 hours and did 3x/4 work. Then your productivity is the most on 3rd day while it was least on the 2nd day. You did the most work on second day but the amount of time taken by you was more the increase in amount of work. So you may be knowing the meaning of productivity, so now I think that you are ready to be told some ways of increasing your productivity.
- Decrease work hours and rest more
You should decrease your work hours for increasing your productivity. I don’t mean to make them nil but I mean to reduce them, and reduce them continuously. I mean that you should not work for very long continuously. Suppose you are doing any work and then you are tired. But you think that keeping on doing the work will be better for future. So you kept on doing even hen also. You worked for hours without rest and later on, you observed that the result is below than expectations. Or you have done more work earlier in the same amount of time before. So to avoid this situation, when you feel tired take little rest or take a nap.
After sometime, keep on doing the work. You will take rest so you will not fall ill. You take rest so your productivity will be increased. Sleeping can also help in being creative. You can adjust your work hours after taking rest so your work hours will also not be reduced much. So I think that this is very useful to you.
- Plan everything
This is a very important point if you want to be productive. You need to plan what you are going to do. If you are not knowing what you should do then you will do what you will see first and that may no the most important work. So you need to know that what you are going to do. You need to take out time of 5 to 10 minutes to plan everything.
You can take that time before going to work or before starting. Then you will do the work which will give the maximum results. If some work is remaining, you can even assign that to someone else. Suppose if you have gone to football training and you don’t know what to do. You started by doing practice of goal keeping, and then did practice of defense, but you are a striker, so all your hard work can even go vain, so do planning.
- Focus on automation
This step is basically for leaders. You don’t always need to work your self for hours to get great results. Just you need to automate the work in your group. You need to do proper planning that what everyone will do. Everyone needs to know that what they are supposed to do. You may be knowing that how Henry Ford automated work at his company. He gave separate work at the assembly line to everyone. In this way, they did only one work. They became expert in one thing which increased their speed. Everyone needs to be fast to match the speed of the whole team. The work has been automated so everyone worked systematically. Everyone employee became a part of the team and who was not up to the mark was recognized easily and could be removed or given other work.
- Think more, than work
You may be knowing that a lazy person always finds out ways to do his work easily. He works more mentally than physically. So you should try things to make them easy for you. This will increase your productivity and even if some day you get a lot of work suddenly then you can do it with your easy method. if some day so much work is given that cant be done by you even with your hack, then you can find out new ways to make that happen. This will also increase your productivity so challenge yourself with extra work. But always be ready to use your mind and believe that you can do it.
- Set higher targets
It is very true that if you want to increase productivity you need to have a good reason for that. So setting a higher target will give you a reason for that. But the target should not be irrelevant. It should be some kind of a need to you. But it should be high. It should motivate you everyday to work. It should force you to never give up. The motive is to increase productivity but what is the use of increasing productivity if you cant use it properly. So this is the reason for increasing productivity. Don’t think that it is just for the other reason, but it is the main reason. Associate the target with you but to a bigger reason. It should be like giving better life to your family, or doing something for the society. It could be anything but something big.
Some people think that it is just waste of time because you need to something more. But it is actually for increasing productivity. It could save you from future health problems which could increase your productivity. It would make you feel good everyday which increases productivity. You would not need to take multiple medicines so it will save your money also. You won’t need to go to different medical appointments. Also, you would not feel irritated throughout the day. These small things look small but they make a big difference. Small time involved in exercise looks waste but that is of great importance.
